Overview
Support telecommunications services to facilitate the efficient implementation of security processes and procedures. Responsible for monitoring and channelling all radio communications, including tracking of WFP vehicle and staff movement.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with WFP Security staff and/or UNDSS Radio Room to facilitate accurate and efficient security-related information flow.
- Monitor and channel all radio communications, including tracking of WFP vehicle and staff movement.
- Ensure optimal radio network operations through the implementation of standard operating procedures.
- Provide guidelines and training to local radio operators.
- Produce regular and ad hoc reports, including daily radio checks and staff movement reports.
- Assist in preparing and dispatching the summary of security incidents.
- Provide support and training to users on telecommunications equipment and procedures.
- Maintain inventory and provide recommendations for potential improvements.
- Create and maintain databases (e.g. lists of call signs, addresses, telephone numbers, wardens).
- Follow established emergency response processes and procedures.
- Track mission vehicles and movement and provide a report to the head of security.
- Equip new arrivals with telecom equipment and provide basic training.
- Keep log incidents and office daily call office keys.
- Monitor UHF repeaters, network and vehicle tracking application.
- Programme telecom equipment and assign call signs to new arrival staff.
Required Experience
Four or more years of progressively responsible work experience in telecommunications/radio operations, information technology, or other relevant fields of work.
Qualifications
- Completion of secondary school education.
- Technical training in communication equipment or other work-related areas.
