Overview

The UN Volunteer will manage office procurement and strengthen the Supply Chain Management Unit (SCMU) to meet program needs. The role involves leading local procurement initiatives, liaising with senior management, and monitoring procurement processes.


Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare a consolidated Procurement Plan for the Myanmar CO.
  • Oversee the entire portfolio for economical and timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Strengthen the SCMU capacity.
  • Lead and manage local procurement initiatives.
  • Liaise with the Senior Management Team and Programme Specialists.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of procurement processes.
  • Lead UNFPA representation in the OMT/BOS Procurement Working Group/Logistics Working Group.
  • Manage logistics and supply chain reporting lines to IOM.
  • Act as the coordinator for Supply Chain Committee meetings.
  • Evaluate, implement, and monitor the logistics requirements of the CO.
  • Work closely with IPs and relevant health authorities on RH commodities and medical equipment.
  • Collect and analyze logistics data.
  • Participate in the inspection and reception of SRH products.
  • Organize periodic physical inventory counts.
  • Provide technical advice on procurement and inventory management.
  • Propose and update internal SOPs.
  • Develop curricula and training materials for procurement and supply chain management.
  • Conduct training sessions for CO staff and Implementing Partners.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on all procurement and logistics activities.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian operations, with a strong focus on supply chain management, procurement, and logistics is required.
  • Experience in procurement planning, vendor management, and supply chain coordination in line with organizational policies.
  • Ability to manage end-to-end logistics processes, including procurement, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders (UN, partners, government) in complex or emergency settings.
  • Proven ability to analyze stock data, delivery timelines, and procurement trends for reporting and decision-making.
  • Experience in process improvement, including development of SOPs and addressing audit requirements.
  • Experience in capacity building and delivering training to staff and partners.
  • Strong coordination, planning, and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to rapidly changing environments.
  • Advanced MS Office skills.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field.
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent Advanced Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (Preferred).
