Overview

This internship is in the Office of the Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications (OUSG) within the Department of Global Communications (DGC). The role supports the promotion of awareness and understanding of the UN’s work, values, and impact.


Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, edit, and proofread a variety of written materials, including reports, briefing notes, correspondence, and other content for internal and external audiences.
  • Support the development of social media content by drafting posts and adapting messaging for different platforms.
  • Conduct research and compile information to inform and strengthen communication outputs.
  • Maintain organized records of working documents, finalized materials, and related assets.
  • Provide support on additional tasks for the Office of the Under-Secretary-General (OUSG) as required.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualifications
  • Applicants must: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D. Programme.

Fluency in English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another official language of the United Nations (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is desirable.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
