Overview
The Associate Investment Officer, Corporate Finance Services (CFS), LAC will support CFS regional teams with global capacity to facilitate business development and execute transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed financial analysis, including building and reviewing financial models, to assess the viability and risks of potential investment opportunities in the Manufacturing, Agribusiness, and Services (MAS) sectors across emerging markets.
- Lead due diligence processes, coordinating with internal teams and external advisors to evaluate market conditions, operational risks, and regulatory compliance for prospective investments.
- Structure and negotiate investment terms, including equity, debt, and blended finance instruments, ensuring alignment with IFC’s strategic objectives and risk-return parameters.
- Prepare high-quality investment proposals, presentations, and documentation for internal approval committees, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with IFC’s investment standards.
- Monitor and manage portfolio investments, including tracking financial performance, identifying risks, and implementing corrective actions to safeguard IFC’s interests.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) specialists, to ensure investments meet IFC’s sustainability and impact standards.
- Contribute to the development of sector strategies and market analyses to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges in the MAS sectors within emerging markets.
- Promote IFC’s mission by identifying and executing investments that deliver measurable development impact while achieving financial returns.
Required Experience
- At least 4-6 years relevant experience.
- Transaction advisory experience in buy side mandates, sell side mandates, restructuring mandates.
- Experience in transactions that involves taking companies public on major international stock exchanges such as the New York stock exchange, London Stock exchange etc. is desirable.
- Experience in financial statement analysis, forecasting and multiple scenario creation and analysis, capital structure modeling, LBO and M&A modeling, etc., intrinsic valuation and Discounted Cash Flow analysis.
Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in finance, business, law, consulting.
