Overview
The Information, Counseling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) Information Field Assistant is responsible for the direct provision of information and counseling, as well as support of legal assistance to refugees.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements.
- Implement weekly, monthly and quarterly work plans.
- Coordinate with relevant partners.
- Supervise and train ICLA Information Focal Points.
- Prepare periodic activity reports and other documents as required.
- Support mapping, research and assessment exercises.
- Carries out related mainstreaming of protection in programme daily implementation.
- Ensure that all protection related cases detected are referred to the referral focal point concerned.
- Conduct individual and group information sessions.
- Organize and support legal counseling sessions for refugees.
- Follow case management procedures.
- Follow data management procedures.
- Assist in the sensitization of refugees and host communities on ICLA activities.
- Prepare the relevant mapping of relevant services being provided by other actors.
- Conduct regular assessments.
- Prepare weekly and monthly work plans and outreach schedules.
- Assist in preparing information documents for target communities.
- Receive technical input from ICLA Legal Officers and Technical Team.
- Work cooperatively with the beneficiaries and other relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor and follow-up on the quality of services provided during outreach activities.
- Attend coordination and protection meetings.
- Assist in contributing to the development of referral mechanisms.
- Maintain archiving system up to date.
- Work closely with ICLA lawyers and do the required follow up and identification of cases.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience
- Experience working in similar positions in the humanitarian / development sector
- Experience in legal and/or protection work in a humanitarian context
- Experience of providing information and counselling services
- Experience of community sensitization
