Overview

Support the implementation of the Agriculture component under the FCDO PREAVEL grant, focusing on animal production and health in target provinces.


Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyse information on animal production and health conditions.
  • Identify needs of vulnerable populations and propose interventions for animal livelihoods.
  • Lead the implementation of animal production and health activities.
  • Provide technical support to Field Extension Agents and community groups.
  • Define implementation modalities for livestock and animal health components.
  • Travel to project sites to mobilize stakeholders and beneficiaries.
  • Plan and oversee livestock vaccination and deworming campaigns.
  • Conduct daily visits to project sites, providing technical advice.
  • Deliver training on modern animal production techniques and animal health practices.
  • Work to establish community fodder banks and train livestock owners.
  • Promote best practices in livestock husbandry and market linkages.
  • Ensure livestock interventions are inclusive, targeting vulnerable groups.
  • Provide regular updates and progress reports on livestock activities.
  • Assist in preparing project plans.
  • Prepare and implement action plans for quality monitoring.
  • Mobilize and make communities aware of project objectives and MEAL systems.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a similar capacity.
  • At least 3 years proven experience, skills and knowledge especially on shoats, fattening, dairy, poultry, apiculture, animal health and feed/fodder management and livestock extension services.
  • Strong communication, analytical and reporting skills/techniques.
  • Capable in organizing project activities and follow up a team.
  • High level of understanding of Humanitarian working principles.
  • Good knowledge in Sphere/LEGES standards.
Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, livestock Development, Animal Health/veterinary science and other related/equivalent disciplines.
