Overview

The WHO driver performs tasks as per the line supervisor, ensuring safe and secure transportation of staff and adherence to all security, traffic, and safety rules.


Key Responsibilities
  • Drive safely and securely in line with UNDSS and WHO standards and local traffic laws.
  • Be responsible for the vehicle and its contents and ensure full compliance with all safety, traffic, and security rules and WFS policies & instructions.
  • Be responsible for the safe transport of WHO staff under any circumstance.
  • Ensure that other road users are not harmed because of WHO road operations.
  • Ensure that any crashes or traffic incidents involving the WHO vehicle(s) are reported as per applicable WHO procedures and /or instructions.
  • Provide first level maintenance of the vehicle and engine.
  • Determine the route and the timetable to follow or respect those that have been provided before hand and provide regular update on the movement status to security unit.
  • Report immediately to Security or MOVCON room any unusual situation or potential security risk or incident/accident involving WHO vehicles or other road users on the road.
  • Respect all convoy and safety and security policy.
  • Ensure that all vehicle documents are valid and available in the vehicle and that all goods and passengers have all necessary papers in order before travelling.
  • Ensure that all administrative documents are always properly filled.
  • Know how to use all types of satellites phones, radios, codes, and call numbers and radio alphabets by heart and communicating with WHO office according to WHO communications policy.
  • Ensure physical check of spare tire, rope, jack or any technical off-road recovery & rescue kit prior to departure.
  • Report any deficiencies to the vehicle to the supervisor and proactively raise concerns regarding safety.
  • When applicable, perform or verify the safe and correct loading/unloading & ensure the loads are balanced and properly secured and protected.
Required Experience

A minimum of at least four years of relevant experience as a driver of goods and/or passengers, ideally for a government/IGO/ or NGO- Organization. Desirable: Relevant experience in WHO or another UN agency is an asset.

Qualifications

A valid driving certification and completion of secondary school education or equivalent.

Intermediate knowledge of Other Official WHO.

Remuneration
Annual base salary starting at USD 12,973 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
