Overview

The Programme Officer (Return and Reintegration) will manage, coordinate, and oversee activities under the Migrant Return and Reintegration Portfolio in Ethiopia.


Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the Migrant Return and Reintegration Programme.
  • Provide operational management, guidance, and technical supervision to programme staff.
  • Establish and expand relationships with UN Agencies, humanitarian organizations, government, and community interlocutors.
  • Identify programme priorities and contribute to the development of new projects and activities.
  • Ensure timely and quality preparation and submission of programme reports.
  • Coordinate and manage programme updates/briefs for stakeholders.
  • Monitor progress against strategic objectives and programme benchmarks.
  • Oversee the production of visibility/communications materials.
  • Supervise and provide technical support to programme staff, including mentoring and training.
  • Coordinate the development, dissemination, and update of assessment and monitoring tools.
  • Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Programme activities, if required.
  • Coordinate with other Programme Managers to maintain a coherent approach.
  • Oversee data collection and analysis mechanisms for programmes.
  • Undertake travel duties nationally or internationally as required.
Required Experience
  • Five years of relevant professional experience with a Master's degree, or seven years of relevant professional experience with a University degree.
  • Experience in the field of migration issues, including operational and field experience, project development, and management, and report writing.
  • Experience in complex programme development and implementation on return and/or reintegration, including budget management, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Experience implementing reintegration projects and/or similar projects at the global or regional level with a UN agency or an international organization is an asset.
  • Experience in overseeing and delivering training programmes, especially on the topic of reintegration, for both an internal and external audience.
Qualifications

• Master's degree in international relations, Political Science, Humanitarian Affairs, Economic Development, Business or Public Administration, International Studies, or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or, University degree in the above fields.

• Fluency in English is required (oral and written).
Languages Preferred
• Working knowledge of another official UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.
Contract Duration
