Overview

The Case Manager will work in Area IV of the Prefectures of Milan to support the local authority in managing cases of unaccompanied children, those transitioning to adulthood, families with children, and women survived and/or at risks of GBV.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to Area IV of Prefectures to support prompt and appropriate transfer/allocation in adequate reception facilities and facilitate foster care options.
  • Implement a comprehensive Child Protection Case Management (CP CM) based on international standards.
  • Support foster care procedures for UASC.
  • Maintain the mapping of available protection services updated.
  • Facilitate the referral mechanisms between Prefectures and CP actors and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to interagency coordination with other relevant actors.
  • Enhance progress in the governance of the local child protection system.
  • Provide technical support to other operational teams to collect qualitative/quantitative data on protection needs.
  • Gather and systematize data on interventions conducted by case managers.
  • Support capacity-building sessions for local authorities.
Required Experience
  • 5 years of work experience with Refugees and migrants or vulnerable children along with extensive experience in the field of child protection and gender-based violence.
  • Experience with UNICEF is an asset.
  • Experience working in the UN or other international development organization is an asset.
  • Proven experience of work with local institutional authorities in protection and reception of migrants and refugees is an asset.
  • Proven knowledge of the Italian national context with regards to asylum, migration, and protection system and legal and policy framework.
Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work, Law, Political Sciences or other related disciplines.
