Overview
To support communication efforts of WFP in Palestine by performing coordination, administrative and specialized communications processes. Support the creation, planning and publication of communications content as well as media relations to maintain and enhance WFP’s visibility and reputation and supporting fundraising activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide coordination, administrative and specialised services, to support staff in the development, preparation and execution of communications campaigns for target audiences.
- Monitor and coordinate materials, schedules, facilities and clearances, and provide support for special events and communications missions and projects.
- Develop systems to monitor traditional and social media across Palestine and report relevant information to senior staff.
- Work with teams across Partnerships and COM to fulfil partnerships and donor visibility requests.
- Support local media requests and liaise with local journalists to raise visibility of WFP’s work across Palestine.
- Support programme teams in reviewing communications materials for Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) and support in communications with communities and campaign development.
- Prepare content for traditional and social media platforms and networks, and printed materials, to enhance coverage and support of WFP’s activities.
- Build capacity and knowledge on best communications and visibility practices for WFP staff and cooperating partners.
- Manage and maintain records and databases, such as journalist and media outlet contact lists.
- Respond to a variety of queries and requests for support, following standard processes.
- Liaise with WFP staff and the media in a timely manner, to support aligned activities and an effective approach to communications within WFP.
- Any other task as required.
Required Experience
- Five years or more experience in the field of Communications.
- Experience working in the media, or for the UN or an NGO highly desirable.
Qualifications
- Completion of secondary school education.
- A post-secondary certificate in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, or related field is desirable.
