Overview
The Operations Officer (Humanitarian Response and Recovery) will coordinate IOM’s operations in response to humanitarian response and recovery challenges in the Country Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor the implementation of all operational and administrative aspects of emergency-related projects.
- Ensure adequate IOM’s Response and Preparedness by improving coordination and aligning programmatic response preparedness.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of all related project reports.
- Guide and supervise staff responsible for the implementation of humanitarian response projects.
- Identify new opportunities for emergency response and participate in the development of project proposals.
- Liaise with donor representatives and periodically brief them on current and planned programs.
- Participate actively in various humanitarian and recovery fora.
- Undertake duty travel relating to need assessments, humanitarian response project monitoring, liaison with counterparts, problem-solving, and new project development, as required.
Required Experience
- Five years of relevant professional experience with a Master’s degree, or seven years of relevant professional experience with a University degree.
- Experience working in an emergency/humanitarian context.
- Practical experience in project management, including administrative and financial management, procurement and HR procedures, and internal control procedures.
- Experience in fields related to IOM emergency/humanitarian programming, including emergency coordination, Non-Food Items (NFI)/shelter, Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM), or preparedness and response.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Business, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
- University degree in the above fields.
