Overview
The Programme Officer will lead the implementation of a three-year externally funded initiative focused on Energy Transition for Green Growth and Prosperity. This role involves close collaboration with internal divisions and a project steering group to manage programme development and implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and implements the Energy Transition for Green Growth and Prosperity programme.
- Leads, monitors, and analyzes programme development and implementation.
- Performs consulting assignments, plans and facilitates workshops, and develops annual activity plans.
- Provides secretariat support to a high-level advisory group.
- Researches, analyzes, and presents information from diverse sources.
- Coordinates policy development, including review and analysis of issues and trends.
- Generates survey initiatives, designs data collection tools, and analyzes responses.
- Organizes and prepares written outputs on themes including energy transition, green industrial transformation, social development, macroeconomic stability, power grid interconnection, artificial intelligence, green finance, and carbon markets.
- Provides substantive backstopping to meetings and conferences.
- Initiates and coordinates outreach activities, conducts training workshops, and makes presentations.
- Leads and/or participates in complex field missions.
- Coordinates activities related to budget funding and prepares related documents/reports.
- Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights using data visualization methods.
- Performs other duties as required.
Required Experience
- A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, project or programme administration, assignments related to regional cooperation, policy analysis, energy, sustainable development, finance for development or related area is required.
- Experience in delivering complex multi-stakeholder projects involving regional and international cooperation in the governmental and international organizations is required.
- 2 years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
- Experience in the United Nations Common System or in international organizations similar to those in the UN Common System is desirable.
- Experience managing large scale programmes with multiple donors is desirable.
- Experience in working in the Southeast Asia region on energy-related issues is desirable.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics, energy, engineering, sustainable development, climate change or a related field is required.
- A relevant first-level university degree in the above fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is an advantage.
