Overview

The Associate Programme Management Officer will provide substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation functions, assist in performing consulting assignments, and contribute to the preparation of various written outputs. The role supports the implementation and monitoring of assigned programmes/projects and provides support to governments and partners dealing with risk reduction.


Key Responsibilities
  • Carries out basic research on selected aspects of programmes, operations and other activities.
  • Provides substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation functions.
  • Assists in performing consulting assignments.
  • Contributes to the preparation of various written outputs.
  • Supports the implementation and monitoring of assigned programmes/projects.
  • Provides substantive support to national, sub national and local governments and partners.
  • Provides administrative and substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc.
  • Undertakes outreach activities; participates in the development of training workshops, seminars, etc.
  • Participates in field missions.
  • Hires and supervises consultants, builds and sustains partnerships.
  • Coordinates activities related to budget funding and preparation of related documents/reports.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Required Experience

A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management in disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation or related area is required. One (1) year of work experience in the Latin American region is required. Work experience with subnational and local governments is desirable.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in urban development, environment studies, sustainable development, international cooperation, development economics or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with an additional two (2) years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
