Overview

The Industrial Development Expert will provide technical support for the implementation of a project focused on strengthening pharmaceutical and biomanufacturing industrial ecosystems in Ghana. The role aims to enhance national health industry systems, human capital, and industrial competitiveness.


Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate project execution, including supervising consultants and partners.
  • Provide technical leadership for health industrial development interventions.
  • Prepare project inputs such as work plans and terms of reference.
  • Monitor progress, expenditures, and prepare financial forecasts.
  • Manage external relations with stakeholders.
  • Support investment promotion and access to finance activities.
  • Contribute to advocacy, communication, and visibility activities.
  • Contribute to resource mobilization efforts.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience with an advanced degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience with a Doctorate.
  • Professional experience, including international level, in technical cooperation in developing countries.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing technical assistance projects in pharmaceutical manufacturing, biomanufacturing, or health industry systems strengthening.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in supporting the health industry, particularly local pharmaceutical and biomanufacturing sectors.
  • Experience evaluating needs, conditions, and problems in developing countries.
  • Experience in conceptualizing and/or implementing multi-country or multi-partner projects.
  • UN project implementation and field experience.
  • Experience in all phases of the Project Cycle is desirable.
  • Prior experience in Africa, particularly in the pharmaceutical or health manufacturing sector, is highly desirable.
Qualifications
  • A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in public health, international health, global health, industrial development or a related field is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences or a specialization in pharmaceutical manufacturing, health industry development, or industrial policy is an asset.
  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) or a Doctorate in the same fields are accepted.

• Fluency in written and oral English and French is required.
Languages Preferred
• Fluency or working knowledge of another official UN language, particularly Arabic, is an asset.
