Overview
The Referral Nurse will provide clinical care, respond to emergencies, and ensure proper documentation and safety protocols are followed.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rapid patient assessment, triage, and stabilization.
- Provide emergency nursing interventions.
- Assist in advanced life support (ALS) procedures.
- Monitor patient conditions continuously.
- Respond promptly and safely to emergency calls.
- Collaborate effectively with emergency responders.
- Assist with extrication and patient transfer.
- Ensure proper handover and documentation.
- Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Communicate clearly with receiving medical facilities.
- Follow legal, ethical, and professional standards.
- Ensure ambulance equipment, medications, and supplies are checked, stocked, and ready.
- Maintain infection prevention and control practices.
- Follow ambulance safety procedures and emergency driving protocols.
- Adhere to clinical guidelines, protocols, and EMS policies.
- Participate in drills, training, and continuous professional development.
- Support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in emergency, critical care, or acute care nursing (preferred).
- Pre-hospital or ambulance experience is an advantage.
Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
- Valid nursing license/registration with the relevant regulatory body.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Life Support (ALS/ACLS) preferred.
