Overview
The Air Quality Specialist will provide technical support to integrate air quality and health considerations into Brazil's short-lived climate pollutant (SLCP) agenda, advancing an integrated climate and air quality approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support on the links between air pollution, climate change, and human health.
- Collect and analyse relevant data and information related to air quality and SLCP mitigation.
- Support the design and implementation of a national integrated climate and air quality platform.
- Provide technical inputs for the formulation or revision of air quality policies and initiatives.
- Prepare and review technical documents, national guidelines, training materials, and knowledge products.
- Organize and/or deliver workshops, technical training, and events on air quality.
- Support air quality discussions within the Brazil SLCP governance structure.
- Provide technical review and quality assurance for products developed under CCAC projects.
- Participate in relevant CCAC initiatives and facilitate engagement of national stakeholders.
- Participate in meetings and events, presenting work and progress on Brazil’s SLCP agenda.
- Support the compilation, management, and reporting of information related to air-quality-related projects.
- Support the identification of opportunities to integrate air quality, health, and black carbon considerations into broader policies.
- Contribute to technical and progress reports for the CCAC and other partners.
Required Experience
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in air quality, environment and health, emissions management, atmospheric sciences, or a related field is required.
- Demonstrated experience in providing technical support to policy development and implementation, data analysis, and project delivery related to air quality, climate change, or environmental health is required.
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation of technical and knowledge products is required.
- Knowledge of Brazil’s policy and institutional context related to air quality, climate change, and environmental health is required.
- Good understanding of short-lived climate pollutants, air pollution, climate change, black carbon, and health-related dimensions of air quality in Brazil is required.
- Strong analytical, technical drafting, facilitation, and training skills are required.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in environmental science, atmospheric science, environmental engineering, public health or a related field is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with three additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
