Overview
The SLCP Coordinator will assist the Secretariat of Urban Environment, Water Resources, and Environmental Quality of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (SQA/MMA), leading the day-to-day coordination of the SLCP unit’s activities and short-lived climate pollutant (SLCP) initiatives, while promoting an integrated climate and clean air approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist SQA/MMA with the day-to-day coordination of SLCP projects and initiatives in Brazil, monitoring workplans and achievement of results.
- Coordinate the work of the SLCP unit team members.
- Ensure alignment of the SLCP unit initiatives with the CCAC Accelerator goals and Key Performance indicators (KPIs).
- Facilitate interministerial coordination, as well as strategic collaboration among relevant departments within the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
- Identify, articulate, and strengthen partnerships to advance SLCP mitigation.
- Support the coordination and implementation of the Clean Air and Climate Plan and the SLCP governance structure in Brazil.
- Promote alignment between SLCP policies led by SQA/MMA and other relevant policy frameworks.
- Prepare summaries of governance meetings, including key decisions and agreed actions.
- Support the drafting and review of strategic documents related to the SLCP agenda.
- Contributes to the preparation of technical and political inputs for national and international meetings.
- Prepare technical, progress, and financial reports for the CCAC and other donors.
- Provide administrative and financial support to the SLCP Unit.
- Provide operational, administrative, and organizational support to the SLCP Unit.
- Coordinate and support the planning and implementation of workshops, technical exchanges, capacity-building activities, and national and international events related to the SLCP agenda.
Required Experience
- At least 5 years of professional experience working in a field relevant to climate change, air pollution, sustainable development or environment and health is required.
- Demonstrated ability to provide coordination role and project management, as well as technical assistance to policy development and implementation to governments and other stakeholders is required.
- Demonstrated ability in multi-stakeholder process and stakeholder engagement is required.
- Knowledge of the national policies in climate change mitigation and air pollution of Brazil is required.
- A good understanding of short-lived climate pollutants, climate change and air pollution issues in Brazil is required.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree, master or equivalent, in environmental science, sustainable development, or management, economics, politics, international relations or a similar discipline.
- A first-level university degree in combination with four additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
