Overview
The Supply and Logistics Specialist will be responsible for managing the supply chains of a medium-sized country office or elements of a larger supply operation, supporting programmatic needs and providing technical advisory support.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage supply chain operations including planning, procurement, contracting, customs clearance, warehousing, in-country transport and distribution.
- Monitor supplies, services and construction works.
- Support management collaboration with programmes in defining supply interventions.
- Provide technical and advisory support to governments, national systems and partners on supply chain management.
- Develop and implement emergency supply & logistics strategies and preparedness action plans.
- Collaborate with programme sections on supply components of programme design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
- Provide supply input to donor dialogue and support proposal development.
- Assess and collaborate with implementing partners.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with Government, UN organizations and bilateral counterparts.
- Promote/drive supply chain strengthening and change management initiatives with governments and partners.
- Support supply components of health systems strengthening.
- Contribute to pilots and roll-out of new products and services.
- Promote critical thinking, innovative approaches and good practices on supply chain management.
Required Experience
- A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience, at the national and international levels, in supply, logistics, procurement, contracting, administration and/or other directly related technical fields is required.
- Understanding of development and humanitarian work.
- Emergency experience is an advantage.
- Health supply chain management experience an advantage.
Qualifications
Master's degree in a relevant area, e.g. Business Administration, Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Contract/Commercial Law, International Development, Health or related social science field, or relevant first-level university degree (Bachelor’s) in conjunction with a valid relevant internationally recognized professional certification is required.
