Overview

The Administrative Officer coordinates human resource activities, manages budgets and finance, and oversees general administration within the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).


Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate human resource activities including recruitment, onboarding, performance appraisal, and staff well-being.
  • Lead the implementation of the work programme, ensuring financial resources are utilized according to the Programme Budget.
  • Oversee procurement, billing, operational travel, vendor contracts, and payments.
  • Review office space requirements and oversee identification of office technology needs and maintenance.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in administration, finance, accounting, human resources management or related field is required.
  • Experience in providing administrative and HR advisory support to managers and staff is required.
  • Experience in managing budgets is required.
  • Experience in the implementation of administrative and/or financial policies of the United Nations Secretariat or other similar international organizations is desirable.
  • Experience in the use of Umoja, or a comparable enterprise resource planning (ERP)/web-based management system, is desirable.
  • Two years or more of experience in data analytics or a related field is desirable.
Qualifications
  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, finance, accounting, law or related area is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
