Overview
The Senior Climate Change Specialist will support the preparation and implementation of climate-related projects, providing technical and policy advice on climate-resilient livelihoods and agriculture adaptation.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the overall implementation of the BCRL project.
- Coordinate and lead the development of the overall workplan and budget plan of the BCRL project.
- Coordinate and provide guidance to international and national consultants.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of institutional arrangements for project execution and stakeholder engagement.
- Coordinate and support the development of the Monitoring and Evaluation framework.
- Coordinate and support the organization of consultations/meetings and workshops.
- Coordinate the timely provision of quality deliverables of the project.
- Prepare periodical project reports.
- Ensure regular budget monitoring and delivery of project preparation activities.
- Communicate with and prepare presentations for national stakeholders on BCRL project issues.
- Represent FAO at BCRL PIC and PSC meetings.
- Collect and analyze relevant technical, social, economic, environmental, and technology information, data and/or statistics.
- Support the preparation and implementation of incoming climate-related projects.
- Provide technical and policy advice to FAO on climate resilient livelihoods and agriculture adaptation interventions.
- Collaborate in the development of training tools and materials and the delivery of workshops/seminars.
- Engage with development partners, research institutes, universities, and private sector actors.
- Draft and/or provide input to materials related to resource mobilization efforts.
- Contribute to networking and collaboration with different international and national programmes, stakeholders and partners.
- Perform any other tasks as may be required.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in climate smart agriculture/livelihoods, environment and natural resource management in developing countries.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in managing projects and coordinating multi-stakeholder activities.
- Proven track record of supporting, advising and collaborating with government institutions in Bangladesh.
- Familiarity of working with the UN or development sector actors an advantage.
- Demonstrated experiences in developing countries.
Qualifications
• Advanced university degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Economics, Agriculture, Forestry, or a closely related field.
