Overview

Establishes and implements emergency preparedness and response for the Gaza Field Office. Responsible for the development, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of emergency interventions to ensure the survival and well-being of children, mothers, and affected communities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Adopts emergency preparedness measures through contingency plans and early warning mechanisms.
  • Participates in the formulation and development of emergency plans of action and monitors compliance.
  • Provides technical advice on emergency preparedness and response.
  • Develops and maintains databases on country/regional information for emergency planning.
  • Plans, organizes, and conducts training for staff capacity building in emergencies.
  • Takes prompt action as a member of the Emergency Response Team in the event of an emergency.
  • Assesses local emergency and security situations affecting children and mothers.
  • Executes timely delivery of assistance and procurement of supplies during emergencies.
  • Participates in the implementation of emergency project plans of action and workplans.
  • Identifies longer-term requirements of emergency operations and proposes staffing structures.
  • Maintains coordination and liaison with authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, and donors.
  • Promotes mainstreaming of disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness, and response strategies.
Required Experience

At least 5 years of progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in programme/project development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and administration. Specialized training/experience in emergency response management highly desirable. Developing country or field work experience, experience with cluster approach, international humanitarian law knowledge, security operations knowledge. Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.

Qualifications

Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in one of the following fields: social sciences, public administration, international law, public health, nutrition, international relations, business administration or other related disciplines. Preferably a combination of management, administration, and relevant technical fields.
