Overview
The Protection Assistant – Monitoring is responsible for implementing protection monitoring activities, collecting and encoding data, identifying and referring individuals at risk, and reporting on protection risks and trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct protection monitoring in assigned areas
- Contribute in the development and review of protection monitoring tools, testing, plans and in the analysis of the collected information
- Identify and protection trends and needs in the assigned areas through Key Informant Interviews, Focus Group Discussions and observation
- Utilize data collection system for data collection and uploading
- Identify individuals at risk, provide information and refer for specialized assistance
- Support coordination and implementation of Individual Protection Assistance
- Regularly monitor beneficiaries’ access to service, the effectiveness of referral service, and the contribution of referrals and individual protection assistance on addressing protection risks for individual cases
- Collaborate with Community Based Protection Networks (CBPN) and conduct community awareness raising and information dissemination on identified protection risks and prevention and mitigation strategies
- Maintain good relationships with CBPNs other stakeholders to collect daily information on fresh displacements in the area of coverage and support safe referrals
- Participate in engaging with community-based structures on a consistent basis and sticking to respectful, culturally appropriate ways
- Ensure data is collected in line with Protection Information Management and protection principles, observing data protection Standard Operating Procedures
- Participate in relevant trainings such as Protection Information Management and other topics
- Adhere to Ethical data collection and data protection protocols throughout protection monitoring process
- Ensure proper documentation of activities conducted under the position as a means of verification to measure project progress, effectiveness, and efficiency
- Participate in protection and other multisectoral assessments
- Support in the development of daily, weekly and monthly reports
- Ensure proper documentation of all project monitoring activities
- Provide input during the protection monitoring reports and protection analysis
Required Experience
- Minimum of one year’s experience in an entry to mid-level position, with experience in the field of humanitarian response and refugee/IDP protection working for an international NGO, UN agency or relevant ministry or local authority.
- Experience in conducting protection monitoring or protection assessments using online data collection tools such as Kobo and Activity info
- Experience working with displaced or conflict affected populations.
- Full proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
Qualifications
University degree/Diploma in social sciences, law, social work, international development, or other relevant field from a recognized institution.
