Overview

This internship offers students or recent graduates the opportunity to gain experience in the work of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).


Key Responsibilities
  • Attending meetings and preparing summary reports;
  • Supporting communication and outreach activities related to the work programme;
  • Providing assistance in the organization and servicing of webinars, round tables, seminars, etc;
  • Assist in providing inputs to documentation for technical cooperation programmes and projects;
  • Drafting inputs for technical papers and analytical studies relating to services trade data and services trade policy;
  • Assist in preparing inputs for presentations by members of the team;
  • Assist in performing other related duties as required.
Required Experience

No working experience is required for this internship. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). The candidate’s university degree must be in the area of economics, statistics, international trade, trade law or a related area. For this position the University degree must be in the area of economics, development, law, political science or other social sciences deemed appropriate.

Fluency oral and written in English is required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.

Remuneration
The Internship Programme is unpaid and full-time. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
