Overview

This role involves supporting member countries in countering terrorism and maritime security threats through information analysis and sharing. The post holder will coordinate with national law enforcement authorities to strengthen border security, enhance biometric collection, and assist in building maritime capacity.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist member countries in identifying transnational terrorist groups and facilitators.
  • Support member countries in preventing and detecting terrorist and illicit activities involving maritime transport.
  • Monitor and analyze information related to known terrorist groups and maritime-related terrorist threats.
  • Prepare intelligence reports for dissemination to member countries.
  • Design and coordinate cross-border intelligence-led inter-agency operations.
  • Enhance the understanding and capacity of member countries through training and development programmes.
  • Research, identify and promote technologies and innovations related to terrorism and maritime crime prevention and investigation.
Required Experience

At least three years experience in conducting investigations in counter-terrorism, with maritime crime related issues is required, or other complex transnational organized crimes would be highly desirable. Ten years experience in the area is requested if the post holder does not have the required level of education. Extensive experience as a law enforcement officer is required, particularly in the area of counter-terrorism or serious organized crime; either in the field of investigations and/or intelligence. Experience in maritime investigations. Sound background in specialized criminal investigations including regional and national expertise or the provision of operational police support, including international outreach. Experience working in an international environment would be highly desirable.

Qualifications

Three to four years education at a University or other specialized higher education establishment (e.g. counter terrorism, justice, international and maritime security relations,) required. Law enforcement training at a senior level.

Professional fluency in French is considered an asset. Knowledge of other official INTERPOL languages (Arabic, Spanish) is desirable.
