Overview
The Child Protection and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Coordinator is responsible for leading the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of integrated CP and MHPSS programming. The role ensures high-quality, evidence-based programming to support the safety, mental well-being, and resilience of children, adolescents, and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to needs assessments and design CP & MHPSS interventions.
- Support proposal development and budget development for specific activities.
- Coordinate with other sectors to ensure integrated programming.
- Develop and maintain work plans.
- Support award kick-off processes and detailed implementation plans.
- Identify appropriate locations for group-based activities.
- Ensure each implementation site has a clear exit or handover strategy.
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of CP and MHPSS activities.
- Lead community and local authority outreach work.
- Support the CM Coordinator in conducting/updating service mappings.
- Ensure staff adhere to CP Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Guidelines, CPMS, and CVA for CP Guidance.
- Conduct regular quality checks and monitor adherence to quality benchmarks.
- Collaborate with MEAL teams to oversee accurate use of Commcare and data collection.
- Monitor programme outputs/outcomes and contribute to regular reports.
- Implement child participation and feedback mechanisms.
- Support award close-out processes and document lessons learned.
- Facilitate after-action reviews.
- Collaborate with MEAL staff to set up feedback and accountability mechanisms.
- Line manage and provide support and orientation for CP and MHPSS Officers.
- Supervise facilitators for MHPSS and Safe Families Common Approach.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to staff and partners.
- Provide training and ongoing supervision to staff and partners.
- Ensure staff under line management have clear performance objectives.
- Coordinate with implementing partners and provide capacity building.
- Liaise with partners for reporting purposes.
- Assist the PM in building partnerships with local NGOs, CSOs, and other actors.
- Represent the organisation at relevant inter-agency working groups and task forces.
- Collaborate with Advocacy, Campaigns, Communications, and Media teams.
- Participate in internal and external CP & MHPSS coordination platforms.
- Collaborate with various teams within the organization for technical support.
- Ensure alignment with area-based approaches and collaborate with Programme Development & Quality, MEAL, Awards, Finance, Safety and Security, and Operations teams.
- Share programme learning internally and externally.
- Work closely with the Safety and Security Advisor to adapt programming.
- Flexibility to work outside normal hours during emergencies.
- Responsible for procurement planning and distribution.
- Ensure adherence to Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy and other relevant policies.

Required Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) field in a humanitarian context.
- 1-3 years of progressively advanced management experience in child protection and/or MHPSS or other relevant sectors.
- At least 1 year of experience in emergency settings.
- 5+ years of work experience in project coordination/management.
- Substantial experience in all aspects of project management within the NGO development sector, including working in partnership with local NGOs.
Qualifications
A post-graduate university degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in psychology, social sciences, mental health or other Job related knowledge.
