Overview

This consultancy supports engagement with International Financial Institutions (IFIs) to position WFP programmes in Sudan for IFI financing. The role focuses on coordination, preparing inputs, and contributing to programme design and discussions, as well as providing liaison support with relevant ministries and government counterparts.


Key Responsibilities
  • Work with HQ and regional teams to contribute inputs on WFP’s engagement with AfDB and World Bank.
  • Support implementation of the IFI engagement plan, including tracking priorities, partners, and progress.
  • Monitor IFIs and partner priorities and flag relevant funding opportunities for Sudan.
  • Contribute to proposals and reports, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
  • Organize and support donor engagements, including meetings, missions, and follow-ups.
  • Draft briefing notes and concept papers for engagement with IFIs and other partners.
  • Support WFP positioning by clearly presenting programme priorities and funding needs to partners.
  • Support development of partnership agreements in line with WFP rules and donor requirements.
  • Coordinate inputs from different teams to ensure consistent messaging and proposals to partners.
  • Engage with new and existing IFI partners to share information, support discussions, and identify opportunities.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of donor engagements and funding pipelines.
  • Capture lessons learned from partnerships and share them within the Country Office and with HQ.
  • Share guidance and good practices to improve partnership management across teams.
  • Perform any other related duties as required.
Required Experience

Three to five years’ experience in progressively responsible roles covering partnership management, donor relations, programme design, and resource mobilization, preferably within international organizations, IFIs, or UN agencies. Experience in building and managing partnerships, including developing proposals, soliciting input for reports, drafting agreements, producing visibility plans and/or crafting joint strategies, with focus on development interventions. Understanding of United Nations systems and its coordination mechanisms, government and corporate strategies and priorities and experience in developing multi-stakeholder partnerships. Experience working directly with governments, UN agencies, NGOs, international financial institutions, corporations and/or foundations, in home country and abroad. Engagement with all fundraising activities, including outreach, resource strategies, proposal writing, contract negotiation, and/or in other related fields such as digital, marketing or campaign management. Strong technical orientation for data-based decision-making, partner intelligence and corresponding platforms, as well as innovation of system improvements. Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written outputs and ability to present in English and the working language. Experience in strategy development, policy work, planning and use of research methodologies and sources.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree in International Development, Economics, Political Science, Business Administration, or related fields.
