Overview
Provide specialized technical support for the implementation, operation, maintenance, and user support of the Migration Information and Data Analysis System (MIDAS) in the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical input to MIDAS project plans.
- Support MIDAS technical and performance assessments and contribute to reports.
- Attend technical meetings with government counterparts.
- Assist government counterparts in documenting system requirements and relaying customization requests.
- Prepare hardware and software requirements for procurement.
- Coordinate technical infrastructure activities at Border Crossing Points.
- Assist government counterparts with MIDAS workstation and server installation and configuration.
- Participate and/or deliver MIDAS Installation and User Trainings.
- Support government counterparts during MIDAS roll-out.
- Provide capacity building to MIDAS users and administrators.
- Provide troubleshooting support and ensure knowledge transfer.
- Keep updated reports on assistance requested by government counterparts.
- Collect and consolidate user feedback and communicate issues/enhancements.
- Support government counterparts in acquiring tools and knowledge to monitor system use.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of the MIDAS Maintenance Plan.
- Provide technical inputs for project development.
- Coordinate with MIDAS HQ Team for version upgrades, trainings, and troubleshooting.
- Undertake duty travels when necessary.
Required Experience
- Three years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree in computer science, Telecommunications Engineer, Information Technology or related fields; or five years of relevant professional experience with a High School diploma.
- Strong experience in ICT equipment, systems and networking troubleshooting.
- Experience in VPN and Firewall setup including with CISCO devices.
- Demonstrated experience in training users and providing ICT support to software end-users.
- Knowledge of web servers’ setup and management (including IIS).
- Experience in object-oriented programming languages or platforms such as .NET (particularly on C#), Java and Python, developing client-server applications and SQL Server 2014 or higher (Stored Procedures, Functions, Views, Indexes, Relational Database Design) will be an advantage.
- Experience in and/or knowledge of migration and border management, with a focus on Information Management Systems/Databases will be an advantage.
- Work experience in the region an asset.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Telecommunications Engineer, Information Technology or related fields from an accredited academic institution; or High School diploma.
