Overview
Provide support to Community Based Health Volunteers in implementing health interventions through a Social and Behavior Change approach. The role will oversee the day-to-day activity of community health volunteers ensuring compliance with SCI processes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct community entering activities and participate in the sensitization of community and religious leaders on project objectives.
- Work closely with community leaders to identify community health volunteers.
- Support the establishment/strengthening of Mother-to-Mother Support Group and Father to Father support group.
- Coordinate the selection of lead mother and father and oversee the day-to-day activities of support groups.
- Support community efforts to find solutions to priority health issues.
- Support community level assessments and surveys.
- Provide technical support to strengthen Ward development committee and carry out biannual meetings.
- Organize and facilitate trainings for community health volunteers on PLAC and disease surveillance.
- Provide regular technical supervision visits and on-the-job coaching support to CHVs.
- Develop SG implementation work plan per LGA.
- Develop LGA budget planning reviewed work plan on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Support CHVs to develop monthly action plans.
- Engage community members and structures to design participatory strategies and actions to prevent & respond to priority health conditions.
- Identify special needs of women and liaise with the Protection Officer.
- Identify gaps/challenges in service delivery and coordinate with relevant actors.
- Maintain records of activities and produce regular reports including weekly updates or Situational Reports.
- Conduct an incidence trends analysis each quarter.
- Ensure early identification and referral to health facilities.
- Increase surveillance of infectious disease and reporting.
- Support quality data collection of activities conducted in communities.
- Promote awareness of appropriate health behavior by ensuring behavior change materials are visible.
- Support the development of case studies and success stories.
- Provide maternal and childcare/feeding key messages to beneficiaries.
Required Experience
Minimum of 1 year experience in health community mobilization
Qualifications
B. Sc degree or equivalent in Nursing, Nutrition, Public Health or any related fields.
