Overview

The Protection Coordinator is responsible for overseeing protection activities, managing staff, ensuring compliance with policies, and developing stakeholder relationships.


Key Responsibilities
  • Line management of reporting staff, including performance management, workforce planning, recruitment, induction, and development.
  • Ensure compliance with NRC policies, procedures, handbooks, and guidelines, and propose initiatives to bridge gaps.
  • Develop systems and SOPs and ensure their implementation.
  • Identify, analyze, and evaluate key processes and gaps in team activities and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop strong working relationships with local authorities, civil society, NGOs, and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent NRC in meetings as appropriate.
  • Support the roll-out of a needs assessment in target areas.
  • Maintain up-to-date service mapping and referral pathways.
  • Ensure capacity building of all staff.
  • Prepare and develop status reports.
  • Ensure proper data protection of sensitive information and maintenance of databases.
  • Supervision of the PfV team, including weekly operations and performance management.
  • Support the implementation of NRC’s Protection Policy and global protection standards.
  • Develop strong working relationships with external protection actors and referral partners at various levels.
  • Represent NRC at the field level in protection coordination meetings.
  • Support the development of multisectoral coordination mechanisms at local level.
  • Support in project management, including budgeting.
  • Lead on stakeholder meetings and community participation and/or consultation processes.
  • Support the development of protection tools and guidance and update protection action plans.
  • Produce regular context analysis updates on key protection trends.
  • Develop detailed implementation plans, fieldwork plans, procurement trackers, and spending plans.
  • Share regular updates and project progress reports and contribute to donor reports.
  • Build partnerships with local organizations, fostering their capacity to support community-driven protection initiatives.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings and performance reviews.
Required Experience

Line management responsibilities for directly reporting staff. Experience in performance management process, workforce planning, recruitment, staff induction and development. Experience in developing systems and SOPs. Experience in identifying, analyzing and evaluating key processes and gaps. Experience in developing strong working relationships with local authorities, civil society, NGOs and other key stakeholders. Experience in representing NRC in meetings.
