SECONDMENT Data Protection Compliance Lead - Reserve List

Overview

This role contributes to the implementation, coordination, and operationalization of INTERPOL's Data Protection Management System, focusing on compliance monitoring, governance coordination, and engagement with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to monitoring, coordination, and follow-up of data protection compliance activities.
• Coordinate compliance review and assessment activities.
• Ensure implementation and operationalization of the INTERPOL Data Protection Management System.
• Develop structured escalation and follow-up procedures.
• Maintain engagement with NCB DPOs and designated focal points.
• Facilitate structured communication, awareness, and coordination activities.
• Identify recurring compliance themes and operational challenges.
• Coordinate meetings, workshops, briefings, and awareness initiatives.
• Contribute to advisory and governance activities relating to data processing initiatives.
• Ensure identification, assessment, and documentation of data protection risks.
• Contribute to the preparation of reports, dashboards, summaries, and guidance material.
• Strengthen awareness and understanding of data protection obligations.
• Ensure preparation and delivery of operational awareness sessions, presentations, and training activities.
• Continuously improve initiatives relating to governance maturity and effectiveness.
• Maintain awareness of relevant developments, standards, and best practices in data protection.

Required Experience

At least 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in data protection, compliance, governance, information management, cybersecurity, or related fields. Experience supporting compliance oversight, governance monitoring, advisory activities, or risk management initiatives in complex environments. Experience working in an international, governmental, law enforcement, regulatory, or multinational environment would be considered an asset. Experience engaging with multiple stakeholders across jurisdictions and cultures is highly desirable. Exposure to emerging technologies, digital governance, or AI-related governance matters would be considered an advantage.

Qualifications

Three to four years of university degree in law, information governance, data protection, cybersecurity, information management, international public administration, or another relevant field. An advanced university degree would be considered as an asset. Relevant professional certifications in privacy, data protection, governance, risk, compliance, cybersecurity, or information management would be considered an asset.
