Overview

Support the effective management of UNFPA activities in the areas of adolescents and youth reproductive health & rights and demographic dividend.


Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and interpret the political, social, and economic environment relevant to UNFPA activities related to AYRH, HIV/AIDS, and overall youth development.
  • Contribute to the design of the country programme and its component projects, aligning with Government priorities and UNFPA programme policies and procedures.
  • Monitor progress of activities in the area of AYRH and Demographic Dividend in terms of results achieved, using existing monitoring and evaluation tools.
  • Analyze programs, strategies, approaches, and ongoing experiences; identify best practices and lessons learned.
  • Support the advocacy and resource mobilization strategy of the Country Office by ensuring the preparation of relevant documentation on AYRH.
Required Experience

At least three years of professional experience in reproductive health, women or youth empowerment, peacebuilding, human rights or other related social work. Proven track record of working with youth organizations and networks and solid experience in project design and management, particularly in the area of youth programming, reproductive health, GBV prevention and youth and/or women empowerment. Experience in policy analysis, and advocacy for youth and women empowerment and human rights in the context of sustainable development. Experience working with government counterparts, UN agencies, NGOs and development partner institutions; familiarity with the functioning of the UN system, particularly UNFPA, will be an added advantage. Knowledge and experience in budget management and workplan development.

Qualifications

Advanced degree or equivalent in peace studies, gender, public health with specialization in reproductive health, social sciences and other related fields.

Fluency in Portuguese is required, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of English and/or French is an added advantage.
