Overview
The Protection Team Leader will ensure quality implementation of protection monitoring and community-based protection activities, supervising relevant teams and providing technical guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of CBP and PM activities.
- Support and train PM team to collect, analyze and report information on human rights and protection concerns.
- Support CBP teams with community committees for training, mentoring and feedback.
- Proactively identify gaps and capacity needs of direct reports.
- Deliver internal and external training.
- Facilitate referrals to other humanitarian actors or service providers.
- Collaborate with other Protection Team Leaders and agencies.
- Lead on the implementation of activities within technical scope of CBP and PM.
- Be accountable for the operational execution of DRC CBP Guidelines, DRC Protection Monitoring Guidelines, Protection Prevention Programming guidance, and Consortium, Global Protection and DRC Bangladesh SoPs.
- Ensure quality and timely implementation throughout the duration of the project.
- Support the monitoring of financial commitments and expenditures against budgets.
- Proactively plan and coordinate logistics and movements of staff.
- Initiate procurements and ensure their execution.
- Complete weekly reporting on activities, and supporting drafting weekly report, monthly protection reports, quarterly protection bulletins, and ad-hoc reports.
- Supervise team, complete, well-being development and leave trackers, and other DRC tools.
- Foster and maintain excellent working relationships with all stakeholders and participate in daily coordination.
- Work closely with other DRC staff, particularly GBV, to ensure synergy across programmes and to mainstream protection across DRC interventions.
- Support in recruitment and do performance evaluations of direct reports.
- Ensure proper documentation and secure storage of protection data.
- Maintain the data and tools through supervising the field team on data entry and updating tools.
- Generate regular reports for information management, MEAL and subsector reporting purposes.
- Provide inputs / feedback for donor reports and CBP / PM sections for proposals.
- Prepare additional reports as requested.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Excel, Activity Info, and PowerBi.
- Ensure the compliance of information systems and process with applicable standards.
- Collaborate on the Protection sector strategy and implementation of ongoing protection risk analysis and technical quality improvement.
- Represent DRC at relevant technical and cross cutting coordination meetings.
- Initiate and follow up bilateral relationships with key stakeholders.
- Ensure collaboration with other DRC sectors and support integration.
- Comply with all global and location-specific safety rules, policies, and procedures.
- Report safety incidents, near- misses and other relevant information to the safety team.
- Ensure team members’ safety while they perform duties.
Required Experience
- Previous experience working with vulnerable communities or refugees in a similar context.
- Minimum three years of protection or human rights work experience with a minimum of two years’ experience in General Protection.
- Direct Protection implementation experience including group facilitation and protection analysis.
- Experience in Cox’s Bazar humanitarian response with an international NGO or UN active in the Protection Sector, GBV sub sector and/or Child Protection Sub Sector is required.
- Experience in closely related academic, journalistic or developmental work may be considered.
- Experience in protection interventions including in technical supervision capacity.
- Experience in Protection sensitive representation for an organization on cross cutting issues.
Qualifications
- University education in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology and Linguistics, Anthropology, Conflict Resolution, Gender Studies, Law, or related field. Masters preferred.
- In cases of candidates with substantial work experience in similar profiles, an educational background that develops planning and organization.
