Overview

Support the UN Resident Coordinator Office in advancing youth engagement, volunteerism, and advocacy, with a focus on the Future Makers Programme.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the coordination and implementation of the Future Makers Programme.
  • Assist in organizing youth engagement activities, workshops, and events.
  • Support the development and implementation of volunteerism initiatives.
  • Assist in mobilizing youth participation in UN campaigns and initiatives.
  • Support outreach and engagement with youth organizations and partners.
  • Provide support in maintaining communication with youth participants and partners.
  • Support advocacy efforts related to youth participation, volunteerism, and sustainable development.
  • Assist in preparing communication and visibility materials.
  • Support promotion and content development of the SustainEd Platform.
  • Review and analyze relevant documents related to youth development and sustainable development.
  • Maintain and update youth stakeholder databases.
  • Support the organization of meetings with external stakeholders and youth representatives.
  • Assist in drafting summaries of meetings, reports, and activity updates.
  • Other required tasks as per management request.
Required Experience

Previous studies or participation in youth organizations, volunteer initiatives, student associations, youth councils or civil society activities related to sustainable development, civic engagement or youth participation. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. Previous engagement in youth initiatives, volunteering programmes, student organizations or community activities is desirable. Experience in organizing youth activities, events or campaigns is desirable.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D. Programme. Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams and MS Excel and /or Google Workspace applications (Drive, Docs, Forms, Sheets, Gmail) as well as Whatsup.

Fluency in English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of Macedonian and Albanian is desirable.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
