Overview

Internship opportunity supporting legal research on international human rights standards and assisting in the compilation and analysis of legal and policy information related to access to justice and fight against impunity.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contributing to and supporting legal research on international human rights standards, including treaty bodies and relevant jurisprudence.
  • Assisting in the compilation and analysis of legal and policy information related to access to justice, enforced disappearance, transitional justice, and non-recurrence.
  • Supporting the drafting of background notes and other technical or analytical documents.
  • Assisting in the preparation of summaries and analytical materials.
  • Supporting the organization and systematization of information relevant to ongoing projects or initiatives.
  • Performing other duties as requested by the supervisor, as appropriate.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). Academic background in law, international relations, political science or related fields is required.

Fluency in spoken and written Spanish is required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of English or another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
