Overview

The Education Project Manager will lead and coordinate the implementation of a project and related education sector coordination efforts in Yemen and the Gulf States.


Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the planning and implementation of project activities, workplans, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Work closely with the Ministry of Education, UNESCO teams, consultants, partners, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation.
  • Organize and follow up on meetings, workshops, consultations, missions, and related project activities.
  • Monitor progress, identify implementation challenges, and support timely follow-up actions.
  • Support UNESCO’s coordination with the Local Education Group (LEG), Development Partners Group (DPG), Ministry of Education, donors, UN agencies, and education partners.
  • Provide guidance and follow-up support to coordination processes and agreed actions.
  • Promote communication, information sharing, and alignment among education stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation and follow-up of coordination meetings, technical consultations, and joint reviews.
  • Monitor project progress, results, indicators, and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare and consolidate progress reports, donor reports, briefing notes, presentations, and technical updates.
  • Maintain proper records of project activities, deliverables, and follow-up actions.
  • Provide technical inputs and summaries to support planning, reporting, and decision-making.
  • Support internal coordination within UNESCO to ensure consistency and alignment of programme activities.
  • Collect and consolidate inputs from colleagues, consultants, partners, and technical experts.
  • Review and edit project documents, reports, proposals, and related materials.
  • Support administrative, logistical, procurement, budgeting, and operational follow-up related to project implementation.
  • Support UNESCO’s Education in Emergencies (EiE) activities and related education initiatives in Yemen and the Gulf States.
  • Contribute to knowledge-sharing, advocacy, webinars, consultations, and dialogue sessions.
  • Prepare knowledge products, presentations, talking points, technical notes, and briefing materials.
  • Liaise with ministries, UN agencies, donors, partners, and technical experts, as required.
  • Undertake missions, as required and subject to security clearance, to support project activities and coordination processes.
  • Provide technical and coordination support during missions and field-level activities.
  • Support other education programme activities and related tasks, as required.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Director or Supervisor.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in education programmes, Education in Emergencies (EiE), sector coordination, project coordination, or international development;
  • At least 2 years of international and/or regional professional experience
  • Experience in Education programmes and initiatives in Arab countries
  • Working experience in project coordination and multi-stakeholder engagement, and experience working with Ministries of Education and development partners
Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in International Development, Social Sciences, Education, Management, or a related field.

Remuneration
The annual remuneration for the post is QAR 322854. UNESCO Service Contract benefits includes 30 days of annual leave as well as a contribution to pension scheme and health insurance upon proof of inscription.
