Overview

The Area Relief and Social Services Officer ensures the delivery of quality basic education services and oversees the co-ordination of support services for students. The role involves managing staff performance and maintaining positive relationships with community stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities
  • Ensures the delivery of quality basic education services to refugee students.
  • Provides technical supervision and guidance to School Principals and Deputy School Principals.
  • Develops and maintains a safe and stimulating learning environment.
  • Manages the performance and behavior of School Principals and Deputy School Principals.
  • Develops and maintains positive and supportive relationships with community leaders, NGOs, government institutions and other relevant organizations.
  • Oversees the co-ordination of provision of support services to under-performing and misbehaving students.
  • Ensures the effective and efficient administration of staff, students and premises, equipment and supplies within the schools.
  • Inspects school premises, furniture and other equipment.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Required Experience

At least five years' relevant experience in relief services and/or social development programmes in functions related to those in para 3 above, of which at least three years should be in a supervisory/ management level, preferably in a similar programme is required.

Qualifications

A university degree from accredited institution in social work, sociology, psychology, social anthropology, guidance and counseling or other related Field; Professional qualifications; Training on action oriented social research and participation in at least two research projects.

Contract Duration
Fixed Term Appointment for 1 year; including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and continuing need.

Remuneration
Monthly basic salary USD1,592.60, payable in JD at UN monthly exchange rate. Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15.4% of basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and dependency allowance (if applicable). Additional benefits: 2 days of sick leave for each completed month of service. 14 weeks of Maternity Leave. 2 weeks paternity leave.
