Overview

To provide support to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs and coordinate the implementation of support for local production of high nutritional value foods.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute towards the development of projects, plans and processes.
  • Provide project management support to programmes and projects.
  • Follow data gathering and monitoring systems.
  • Research and analyse policy and operational issues.
  • Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting.
  • Liaise with internal counterparts to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Support the identification, development and management of potential partnerships.
  • Support the capacity building of WFP staff, partners and national government.
  • Provide guidance to support staff.
  • Support the establishment of an institutional framework for local production of high nutritional value foods.
  • Provide support to actors of the production chain of fortified food supplements.
  • Support the implementation of a semi-industrial production model.
  • Support the establishment of a quality control system.
  • Support the implementation of an artisanal food production model.
  • Support the development and implementation of a social marketing strategy.
  • Document the process and develop a plan for consolidation and scaling up of initiatives.
Required Experience
  • At least one (1) year of post-graduate professional experience for candidates holding an advanced post-secondary education (Master’s).
  • Has at least five (05) years of relevant work experience, preferably in food fortification, safety and quality.
  • Has gained experience in implementing technical programs (i.e. nutrition, etc.).
  • Has implemented programmes and provided input into designing operations.
  • Has provided input into policy discussions and decisions.
Qualifications

Advanced University degree in Nutrition/Health, Food science, Food technology, Food engineering, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.
