Overview

The Economics Analyst will provide support for economic inputs to country engagement, macroeconomic surveillance, project implementation, and knowledge product preparation.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide economic inputs to country programming, loan and TA pipeline prioritization, and policy dialogue.
  • Support scoping, preparation, and quality review of documents for Country Partnership Strategy formulation.
  • Contribute to and prepare Asian Development Outlook (ADO), its Update and Supplement, and ad-hoc economic outlook updates.
  • Maintain familiarity with economic and social data updates.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and updates of macroeconomic models, databases, and country economic indicators.
  • Support economic analyses, forecasts, macroeconomic datasheets, and regular macroeconomic surveillance.
  • Support the digitalization and AI-enabled streamlining of internal macroeconomic monitoring, analytical, and reporting processes.
  • Contribute to economic, thematic, and sector work and to the preparation of publications and knowledge products.
  • Provide macroeconomic, policy, and coordination support to active and pipeline sovereign operations.
  • Support the processing and implementation of loan and TA projects.
  • Support outreach and partner engagement.
  • Prepare briefing notes, talking points, and management information notes for senior management.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience

At least 5 years of relevant professional experience with two full years in macroeconomic research and data analysis. Familiarity with economic and social issues of the country. Analytical, drafting, and coordination experience. Can establish and maintain productive contacts with appropriate government officials, development partners, private sector, and academic institutions; and work in a team. Familiarity with local institutions and contexts.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in economics, business and finance, or related fields. Postgraduate degrees are an asset.

Languages Required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
Languages Preferred
Familiarity with statistical software and interest or experience in AI-enabled analytical tools is desirable.
Contract Duration
initially for a period of up to 3 years, or up to the Normal Retirement Date (NRD), whichever comes earlier. After the initial fixed-term period, ADB may choose to renew the appointment for up to an additional 3 years or not renewed.
