Overview

The Finance Specialist is responsible for ensuring sound financial management and effective implementation of financial processes for DRC Uganda, supporting internal controls, accurate financial reporting, and budget management.


Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with DRC’s Operations Handbook, Donor Regulations, and Statutory Requirements.
  • Collaborate with Area and Project Managers in budget preparation, development, review, and revision.
  • Coordinate and strengthen budgetary control by providing financial oversight and reviewing financial performance.
  • Lead the preparation and timely updating of monthly Budget Follow-Up (BFU) reports and participate in BFU review meetings.
  • Ensure the timely preparation, review, and submission of accurate interim and final financial reports to donors and internal reports.
  • Perform financial verification of payment requests.
  • Support the Finance Manager in preparing cash flow forecasts and funding requests.
  • Lead and coordinate month-end and year-end financial closure activities.
  • Review and reconcile Balance Sheet accounts regularly.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant country-specific statutory and financial obligations.
  • Lead the rollout of new financial system functionalities and conduct training sessions.
  • Lead the coordination of statutory, internal, and project audits.
  • Serve as a strategic finance business partner to Area and Country Office teams.
  • Lead the financial oversight of sub-grant and consortium partners.
  • Support partner budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Review partner financial reports.
  • Deliver ongoing capacity building and technical support to partners.
  • Ensure DRC Dynamics is used to its full capacity.
  • Ensure timely set-up of project budgets in DRC Dynamics.
  • Ensure accuracy of all financial data posted to DRC Dynamics.
  • Maintenance of the finance ledger.
Required Experience

Minimum of 5 years’ progressive finance experience with international non-governmental organizations (INGOs).

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, or relevant field and Final or Part certification in CPA or ACCA.
