Overview

Internship opportunity within the International Investment Agreements Section at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The programme aims to expose interns to UNCTAD's activities in research, intergovernmental meetings, and technical assistance.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in collecting data on International Investment Agreements (IIAs) and investor-State dispute settlement (ISDS) cases.
  • Conduct research on investment policy trends and developments.
  • Update IIA mapping and other IIA features in Excel format.
  • Assist in finalizing IIA Issues Notes.
  • Support the organization and preparation of intergovernmental processes and meetings.
  • Assist in conducting background research and analysis for technical assistance delivery.
  • Support the organization of capacity-building activities.
  • Proofread and edit publications.
  • Update the Investment Policy Hub website and utilize social media.
  • Prepare inputs for reporting on programme activities.
Required Experience

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Applicants are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Interns should be computer literate in standard software applications.

Languages Required
Fluency oral and written in English is required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset.

Remuneration
The Internship Programme is unpaid. All costs of travel, accommodation, medical insurance and living expenses must be covered by the intern.
