Overview
Support the implementation of communications, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement activities for the UNDRR Regional Office for the Arab States.
Key Responsibilities
- Support communications planning and coordination of regional events.
- Coordinate the collection of communications inputs and ensure event pages are developed and published.
- Coordinate the preparation of event packages.
- Support communications activities before, during, and after regional events.
- Develop success stories, document good practices, prepare stakeholder profiles, and support the production of interviews.
- Support communications with Arab Stakeholder Groups, including maintaining mailing lists, supporting surveys, tracking responses, compiling results, preparing summaries, and documenting commitments.
- Coordinate media engagement for Cairo-based activities, including preparing media lists, coordinating invitations, supporting media registration, arranging interviews, preparing press materials, coordinating photographers and videographers, monitoring media coverage, and compiling media reports.
- Coordinate preparation of ROAS communication and branded materials and liaise with suppliers.
Required Experience
- Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts is required.
- Ability to design surveys and polls is desired.
- Using content management systems (CMS), photo editing software, web analytics, accessibility is desired.
- Knowledge in copywriting, editing, and translating web content from English to Arabic is desired.
- Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Qualifications
- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent).
- Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
