Overview

Provide substantive support to the implementation, monitoring of programmes and operations of the World Urban Forum. Develop and implement communications strategies to raise awareness and drive engagement.


Tasks Summary
  • Provide insights and analysis from media monitoring to inform communications strategy
  • Develop and implement communications strategies
  • Draft compelling narratives and messaging
  • Conduct mapping, outreach to and foster relationships with media outlets
  • Participate in the development of media lines
  • Plan and coordinate press conferences, briefings, and media events
  • Create compelling content optimized for target audiences
  • Draft and produce communications products
  • Participate in the creation of communications campaigns
  • Participate in the development and coordination of strategic communications partnerships
  • Participate in the development and delivery of outreach and advocacy strategies
  • Contribute to the creation and updating of policy, guidance and/or training related to strategic communications
  • Serve as focal point on policy and reporting
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends in communications and emerging technologies
  • Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and discreet handling of sensitive information
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on communications approaches, activities and strategies
  • Collect and analyse data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights
  • Coordinate the activities of the team
  • Manage required resources
  • Provide guidance to team members

Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in communications, international relations, or other relevant areas
  • Experience designing communications/information strategies and campaigns, preferably for a large-scale international conference
  • Experience in a broad range of public information and communication tools, including new media and social networking tools
  • Two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable

Qualification Requirements
  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, digital communications or related field is required
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
  • Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable

Contract Duration: initial period of one (1) year and may be subject to extension
