Overview
Support general programme and operational activities within the Country Office. Assist with programme and technical support, research, coordination, communication, and general office tasks.
Tasks Summary
- Assist in preparing briefs, presentations, concept notes, and background materials.
- Support data gathering, desk research, and consolidation of information.
- Review project materials, best practices, and knowledge products.
- Participate in meetings and prepare summaries and minutes.
- Conduct research on urban governance, sustainable development, and policy issues.
- Compile international, regional, and local best practices.
- Support documentation of lessons learned and project activities.
- Assist in organizing workshops, training sessions, and other programme events.
- Support logistical arrangements, agendas, invitations, and follow-up documentation.
- Draft communication content and support social media updates.
- Assist with documenting activities, taking photos, and preparing visibility materials.
- Contribute to knowledge-sharing and outreach efforts.
- Support preparation of periodic reports.
- Assist in maintaining organized electronic files and repositories.
- Perform other assigned tasks.
Experience Requirements
- Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
- Experience in organizing, curating, and/or participating events related to urban issues is desirable.
Qualification Requirements
- Enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), OR
- Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), OR
- Graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.
- Computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and personal commitment to its ideals.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
Preferred areas of study: Mass communication, journalism, economics, literature, political science, business administration, urban planners, and any relevant social science.
