Overview

Internship supporting the UN-SPIDER programme in disaster management and emergency response, focusing on providing support for events, research, and communication materials.


Tasks Summary
  • Provide support in organizing conferences, events and workshops
  • Assist in planning training activities and technical advisory missions
  • Provide assistance in formatting documents
  • GIS/Remote sensing research
  • Support with content and maintenance of the UN-SPIDER Knowledge Portal
  • Support with ongoing communication materials
  • Perform other tasks as necessary

Experience Requirements
  • Experience in GIS and/or remote sensing
  • Experience using graphic design tools (e.g., Canva or similar)
  • Familiarity with Disaster Risk Management and a strong interest in disaster risk reduction and early warning systems
  • Proficiency in standard computer software applications
  • Experience in organizing events such as trainings and workshops
  • Experience with Content Management Systems is considered an asset

Qualification Requirements
  • HS Diploma
  • Enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
  • OR
  • Enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of an additional official UN language

Contract Duration: 2-6 months

Work Modality: home-based | REMOTE

Remuneration: The internship is UNPAID and interns work five days per week (full time - 40 hours) unless other arrangements are requested during the interview and agreed to by the hiring office. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
