Overview
The Senior Programme Management Officer will coordinate and manage the overall implementation of strategic initiatives within the Department of Safety and Security, enabling the safe and effective delivery of United Nations programmes.
Tasks Summary
- Operationalize strategic plans through oversight, coordination, implementation and monitoring of activities
- Develop strategies and project plans for strategic initiatives
- Manage progress and reporting against plans
- Review critical activities and systems of UNDSS field locations
- Support strengthening of foresight scenarios and contingency planning
- Lead field missions and provide support to Security Advisors
- Develop the ability to anticipate needs and support readiness for increased operational tempo
- Ensure engagement across the Department, with other UN entities, and Member States
- Support innovation through partnerships
- Ensure implementation of gender mainstreaming guidelines
- Direct research, lessons learned, and best practice initiatives
- Coordinate policy development for new strategic initiatives
- Manage a rectification programme for global UNDSS standards
- Supervise preparation of written outputs
- Manage and direct substantive support to meetings, workshops, and seminars
- Design and conduct training workshops
- Serve as an effective spokesperson and establish collaboration and partnerships
Experience Requirements
Experience in programme management, strategic planning, security risk management, foresight scenarios, contingency planning, and gender mainstreaming.
