Overview

Provide technical assistance to support the maintenance and enhancement of energy efficiency in the refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) servicing sector across four countries.


Tasks Summary
  • Submit a desk study on energy efficiency in the servicing sector in Honduras
  • Formulate a guide on comprehensive management of controlled substances in Guatemala
  • Hold at least two training workshops on safe handling of refrigerants and energy efficiency in RAC equipment in Guatemala and submit report
  • Submit a report on meetings with policymakers regarding low-GWP refrigerants and energy-efficient RAC equipment in Bolivia
  • Submit a report on strategies to improve Energy Efficiency Labelling and Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for RAC equipment in Bolivia
  • Prepare a strategy paper for the EE Pilot Project in Peru
  • Conduct at least two workshops for trainers and technicians on energy efficiency in RAC equipment in Peru and submit report
  • Submit a report on the assessment of energy efficiency labelling and MEPS for RAC equipment in Peru and evaluate certification and market surveillance mechanisms

Experience Requirements
  • At least seven (7) years of experience in project/programme implementation linked to information outreach, knowledge management or project management support and proven experience in working under the Logical Framework Approach in developing countries.
  • Experience in the implementation of Montreal Protocol projects is highly desirable.
  • Experience in working with government officers of developing countries is highly desirable.
  • Previous work experience in the United Nations system and knowledge on the phase out of ozone depleting chemicals and the Montreal Protocol related matters is highly desirable.
  • Experience in providing advice and technical assistance on projects on prevention and minimization of pollution, reduction of emissions, use and/or disposal of waste and by products.

Qualification Requirements

An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in environmental science / environmental policy / science / engineering, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree, combined with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
