Overview
The Rations Officer assists the Chief of the Rations Unit in managing the supply of rations and food-related services to the Mission under various contracts. This role supports the effective operation of rations and catering services.
Tasks Summary
- Plan, execute, and manage rations operations and food-related services under supply contracts
- Monitor and oversee contractor mobilization for warehouse and catering facility setup
- Ensure compliance with UN food safety, quality, and delivery standards
- Coordinate ERMS implementation and integration, including staff training
- Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans for supply chain continuity
- Assist in establishing the supply chain and managing Combat Rations Packs (CRP) and emergency bottled water
- Provide input on procurement processes, including preparing statements of work and requisitions
- Contribute to rations budget preparation and acquisition planning
- Maintain effective record keeping, reporting, and audit response
- Assist in developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for food contracts and supply chain aspects
- Ensure implementation and compliance with SOPs
- Train and manage mission ration staff in food safety and quality programs
- Monitor and analyze rations and catering contract performance
- Liaise with the Contract Management Section/Unit to resolve contract implementation conflicts
- Support the implementation of the Rations Unit’s work program
- Supervise personnel under his/her supervision
Experience Requirements
At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the areas of supply chain management.
Qualification Requirements
Advanced University degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) preferably in business administration, food science or management, supply chain management or other relevant field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
