Overview

Plans, schedules, and supervises engineering projects including construction, earthworks, and roadworks. Assesses requirements for installation, repairs, and maintenance of heavy-duty equipment and horizontal infrastructure.


Tasks Summary
  • Plans, schedules and supervises implementation of engineering projects such as construction, earthworks, roadworks, land clearing and development, excavation, trenching and drainage, including maintenance.
  • Assesses requirements for the installation, repairs and maintenance of earthmoving and construction equipment and horizontal infrastructure.
  • Diagnoses problems and develops solutions for malfunctioning engineering equipment or systems and infrastructure.
  • Supervises horizontal and transitional construction works and operates heavy-duty machinery.
  • Supervises and coordinates the installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of engineering equipment.
  • Inspects and reports on construction, installation and maintenance projects.
  • Applies and ensures adherence to safety programmes.
  • Identifies resource requirements for budget preparations.
  • Assists in technical evaluation of bids and proposals.
  • Secures equipment, materials, supplies and spare parts.
  • Reads and interprets specifications and technical drawings.
  • Prepares bills of quantities and costing for engineering projects.
  • Supervises the maintenance of records.
  • Reviews and approves work orders and assigns tasks.
  • Verifies progress or completion of engineering projects and recommends payments.
  • Follows up on correction of defects during the warranty period.

Experience Requirements
  • Experience in horizontal engineering works and management of heavy-duty earth moving and construction equipment.
  • Experience in construction, earthworks, roadworks, land clearing and development, excavation, trenching and drainage, including maintenance.
  • Experience in installation, repairs and maintenance of earthmoving and construction equipment and horizontal infrastructure.
  • Experience in supervising horizontal and transitional construction works.
  • Experience in supervising and coordinating the installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of engineering equipment.
  • Experience in supervising works carried by national, international junior staff and contractors.
  • Experience in inspecting and reporting on construction, installation and maintenance projects.
  • Experience in applying and ensuring adherence to safety programmes.
  • Experience in identifying resource requirements for budget preparations.
  • Experience in assisting in technical evaluation of bids and proposals.
  • Experience in securing equipment, materials, supplies and spare parts.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting specifications and technical drawings.
  • Experience in preparing bills of quantities and costing for engineering projects.
  • Experience in supervising the maintenance of records.
  • Experience in reviewing and approving work orders and assigning tasks.
  • Experience in verifying progress or completion of engineering projects and recommending payments.
  • Experience in following up on correction of defects during the warranty period.

Qualification Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Recognized and valid license to operate heavy duty construction equipment is required.
  • Technical or vocation certificate in construction management or in a relevant field.
