Overview

Provide technical cooperation to civil society organizations and state institutions on the protection of Indigenous Peoples and Afro descendants.

Tasks Summary

• Participate in meetings on the protection of Indigenous Peoples and People of African descent, including quilombolas, and other traditional communities.
• Participate in meetings promoted by the Office of Public Defender, FUNAI, and the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples.
• Carry out meetings with Government officials, civil society organizations, Indigenous Peoples, quilombolas, EHRDs, local community associations, and the UN System in Brazil.
• Coordinate with the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples, Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship, and National social movements for the elaboration of OHCHR contributions to the Protocol on the Collective Protection of Human Rights Defenders.

Experience Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in human rights at the national level.
• At least 2 years of experience on issues relating to the rights of Indigenous Peoples, People of African descent, including Quilombola Communities, and other traditional communities, including with gender sensitive approaches.
• Experience working at the UN System is an asset.

Qualification Requirements

• Degree in Law, Social Science or other related subjects.
• Master’s degree in human rights-related issues.
