Overview
The Legal Officer will undertake protection and legal activities within the ECHO project framework, providing legal aid services including information dissemination, counselling, assistance, and facilitation of representation to the target population.
Tasks Summary
- Develop a work plan for legal service provision.
- Carry out legal support activities according to work plan and budget.
- Conduct rapid assessments to identify legal service needs.
- Conduct information dissemination on legal rights and procedures.
- Provide legal counselling and assistance.
- Develop and disseminate IEC materials on legal rights and services.
- Facilitate access to legal documentation.
- Organize capacity building training for stakeholders.
- Support provision of regular updates and weekly progress reports.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years work experience in the legal sector, preferably in a humanitarian context.
- Prior experience working with persons of concern including refugees, internally displaced and/or returnees.
- Experience and familiarity with Ethiopia’s judicial system.
- Familiarity with international laws focusing on refugee rights.
- Understanding of protection principles and protection minimum standards.
Qualification Requirements
• University degree in law or other relevant field from a recognized institution.
